If you are promoting other vendor’s product using their affiliate sales pages or affiliate links, you are most likely to lose a potential customer if they are not buying anything on their first visit.

You may have heard of this, studies have shown that you need to show your sales page an average number of 7 times before they really pull out their credit cards to buy a product.

But the problem is how are you able to follow up with a customer in order to show them your sales page again and again?

Google was the first company to make serious money out of selling advertising services on the Internet, with a service called Google AdWords. Prior to AdWords, the basic model of advertising on the internet was based off of the display rate and frequency. You paid a certain amount per thousand impressions, and it ran like magazine advertising.

Google AdWords changed this; you only paid for the display of your advertising that a customer clicked on. AdWords, coupled with Google’s search engine popularity, redefined marketing on the Internet. The other major benefit (beyond a nearly unheard of “Pay for what’s actually gotten”) is that AdWords tend to get targeted searchers.

Email marketing comes in a variety of flavors. Some are sent in plain text, others are html enriched that allow text, graphics and background. There are even some email marketing campaigns that provide an abbreviated email edition with a full version on their business website. Of course business owners provide ample links throughout their email to give the recipient as many opportunities as possible to drop by.

One of the more recent innovations in email marketing is video email. When I reviewed several video email sites I was impressed with a company called Talk Fusion. The video emails sent through the system do not require buffering and the voice and video match. In many ways it was just like watching TV.

If you’re a webmaster who isn’t taking advantage of all that opt-in email lists have to offer, it’s very likely you’re keeping the door closed on some major revenue potential. Opt-in email lists deliver some big advantages that many fail to notice.

Opt-in email lists are rather powerful devices because they give webmasters the ability to communicate directly with visitors whenever they want. A website is passive; email is not. Instead of being at the mercy of incoming traffic to get the word out about products and services, those who create opt-in lists can contact potential buyers at any time. Since opt-in links involve a consensual sign-up process, visitors expect this form of contact. The ideas for marketing with these lists are almost endless. If these lists are available, but unutilized - use them! If they haven’t been cultivated in the past, get them going. The payoff can be big.

However, this can present a problem as you’re left with a list that contains a fairly high number of freebie hunters who have no intention of buying any products from you. All is not lost, however. You can still squeeze cash out of these subscribers, as I’m about to show you.
